Lately, he seems to be a different baby each day (and let's not even go into each night). Some days, he's Mr. Fussy - never wanting to sleep, never comfortable, always wanting to be held, never satisfied by feeding, never happy with a new diaper, etc. Just generally perturbed with the state of things.
Other days, he's Mr. Happy Boy - alert when awake, smiling and talking, whether on a blanket on the floor, in our arms, in the crib. Diaper change? Good. Feeding? Great! On these days, you name it, he likes it.
Other days, it's Mr. Just Let Me Sleep (and Eat).
And still other days, he's somewhere in-between. He's not necessarily Mr. Happy Boy, but he wants to be held. All. Day. It works to calm him down, but it gets a little old for us to be holding him all the time. It's days like this that he earns his newest nickname, Adam-big-u-is: defined as the the state of not knowing if he wants to be awake or asleep and getting heavier in our arms as we try to figure out which he REALLY wants. When we hold him, he calms down and fades out, but as soon as we put him down, he wakes up and fusses. Then we hold him until our arms can't take it anymore, and we start over again. If he would just decide to either sleep or be awake, that would be better than the constant holding of the ever-growing baby.
But now we've discovered the magic of the bouncy seat. Not only does it bounce a little when he moves around, but it also can vibrate enough to temporarily distract him from whatever is bugging him at the moment.
Inventor of the bouncy seat, I salute you.
And now he's getting too big for the #1 size diapers, and it's time to start on the #2s. [I want it noted for the record that we're discussing diapers, and I have not made any jokes about #1 and #2. I think it's a sign I too am growing as a person.] The problem, if you can call it a problem, is that we've been using Pampers, and Costco doesn't carry Pampers. We're going to try out some other brands and see what happens. If I can do so in a tasteful manner, I'll try to keep you posted. And if I can do so in a truly tasteless manner, I will *definitely* keep you posted.

so, does he have that amazing ability to determine the difference between when you are holding him while standing vs holding him while sitting? Sosi would always fall asleep when I walked her around the first floor of the house, as soon as I tried to even lean against the couch to take a break (still holding her) she immediately started screaming.
I was never able to get a complete translation but I think it went something like this: hahahaa! you didn't actually expect to get any sleep this year did you? Wow, did I lose the baby lottery getting an idiot like you for a dad! :)
pics are great, he's growing big and looking cute!

To a degree. He definitely prefers the walking around version, but if he falls asleep, he usually stays that way if I sit down. But if I lay him down, then it depends on which Adam he is that day.
Oh my gosh is he growing! The diapers that we get from Costco is the Kirkland brand they are just as good as the Pampers. Sarah mentioned it to me and the boys never had an allergic reaction and holds whatever may come out. He should stay in the #2 size longer than the #1. Costco is the better way to go esp. with diapers and wipes.
Adams looking great, dad is looking a little worn and Jean I'm sure needs a week of sleep and a day at a spa, but with all that being said it just means your doing Great job.
Your sis, Amanda
Yep....Corbin was a Pampers baby (boo Huggies) and once we tried the Kirkland at Costco we never looked back. They were the greatest. And if you stop and think about just how many diapers he will dirty over the next two years you will probably save a few hundred dollars...not too shabby!
Corbin also liked to be held while we walked the house, we took shifts!
Looks like you are doing good, hang in there...sleep will come.
Sarah
I can't believe I'm discussing them, but x3 for Costco Kirkland diapers. They're made by Kimberley Clark and are basically the same as Huggies Supreme, but much cheaper. $5 off coupon at the door until the 16th (at least up here in Canad-eh).
We've had very few "containment breaches", which are likely due to parental error anyways.
I frankly can't believe that Colin was discussing diapers either.
(Though I concur regarding Costco. Love everything about Costco, especially the return policy. They'd probably even take back used diapers, if one had the cojones to try...)
Not only is Colin discussing diapers, he knows who makes Kirkland diapers and can identify their closest analogue. All of that brain space that could be used on wine, beer, and other important items...
It won't be long before we'll be through the other diapers we've already bought and switch to Kirkland. It's not like he's holding on to his poop for dear life. He's perfectly happy to let fly whenever necessary.
